Ministry Scheduler
-- Overview
The ZLC Ministry Scheduler (ZMS) is a specialized program designed to produce fair and balanced schedules of your services and ministries. This is a very specialized task, with numerous preference and availability parameters to take into account, and with challenging presentation and publication issues as well. But having been sold nationwide for over eight years, with constant improvements and adjustments, ZMS is now the pre-eminent, fully proven and popular program of its type.
ZMS always starts at the Main Menu screen: PEOPLE, CREATE, CHANGE, PRINT, SETUP, and EXIT. You will generally work in PEOPLE to update your Ministers' Availabilities and Preferences, then use CREATE to build the next Schedule (for any specified Range-of-Dates). Then, if desired, you can use CHANGE to make manual adjustments to any existing Schedule. Finally, you use PRINT to produce the printed Schedule. You can print for any Range-of-Dates from the accumulated schedule history which you build up over time. Each CREATE process adds into your history, and you keep accumulating additional schedule history for as long as desired. It takes little room on your computer, and the system does use the history to better decide when and how to assign your ministers.
Actually, there are two parts to using the ZLC Ministry Scheduler: the first is the configuration and setup phase; the second is just running the system to build and publish your schedules each cycle. The former is more complicated, then once that part is done, you can then fairly easily run the system on an on-going basis.
ZMS has no capacity or flexibility limitations. You can set up any number of Ministries: anything you want scheduled -- even counters, linen, and baking people. You can set up as many different Ministry Sets (templates) as you wish or need, and all schedule creation and reporting is done by range-of-dates. So you can build a complex schedule in pieces, if desired, then print it out in one report for the entire several-month cycle period.
You can also easily do test runs. You can build a schedule for some future set of months, use the analyses reporting to check the results, then erase that test with a couple of clicks.
